HILO, Hawaii, Oct. 7, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Two new Therapeutic Living Programs (TLP) are now licensed on the Big Island of Hawaii.   Pacific Quest, a behavioral health care program for teens and young adults ages (13-24), now has a total of 4 licensed facilities in and around the Hilo area.  The Therapeutic Living Program license is issued through the Hawaii Office of Healthcare Assurance, and is facility based licensure--meaning each new facility has a separate licensing process.  "The addition of these two new licensed homes is an exciting development for PQ.  These residences will allow us to expand our programming to more families, and create more dynamic experiences." reports Mike McKinney--one of the owners and founders.   The stringent and lengthy process for each facility involves a thorough review of policies and procedures, inspections from the Department of Health, Fire Department, and other state and local government agencies.

The new facilities are spacious family style homes each surrounded by just over an acre of garden space where students start and end each day.  Eight students share household responsibilities, cook meals, and engage in community activities under the supervision of a 24/7 team of professionals.  

Mr. Mckinney adds: "The COVID pandemic has meant that so many of our youth are more isolated than ever.  These homes are a chance for them to connect, learn, and refocus on the goals that matter most to them."

During the day, participants explore the Big Island, engage in group and individual therapy with licensed providers, and hone horticultural skills on over 30 acres of Pacific Quest campuses.
